Broomhill Parish Church

A Message from the Minister Print E-mail

Hi! Welcome to Broomhill Church of Scotland's website!

minister_web.jpgMy name is Bill Ferguson and 22 of the 38 years I've been in ministry have been spent in Broomhill. Though on the edge of Glasgow's bustling West End our parish of 1700 manages to retain a village-like ambience.  Our church family aims to be welcoming and warm but being frail human beings we know we haven't attained perfection. As you will see a large number of groups catering for different age-groups and interests meet mid-week on our premises.

In Broomhill Church we see ourselves as ordinary members of the community. Some of us are married, some are not. Some of us are young, some of us are young at heart! Some of us have jobs, some of us don't. The one thing we have in common is the value we place on the like of one man - Jesus, the carpenter of Nazareth. Maybe you last thought of Him when you were a child. Remember the Sunday School pictures of the pale Galilean with golden curls and a night-gown down to his ankles? Remember wondering if you had the physique to be a sunbeam? We've made the discovery that Jesus cares so much about the fate of every human life - enough to become a man himself and share so much human pain and weakness. It's amazing, isn't it, that the vastness of the universe and the depths of human suffering and the worth of human life and the mystery of God all find their meaning in that man, the carpenter of Nazareth? That's what gives Him the right to ask for our love. Jesus doesn't want us for sunbeams - he wants to shape our minds, our attitudes, our responsibilities for life on this fragile planet.

We worship - not in private.

Everyone is welcome to join with us in that conversation with God which is at the heart of the way we live.

When next in our area do come and join us!

Verse of The Day
“Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23)
